The sky was a golden pink in the glow of the evening light, soon the sun would fall beyond the line of sight leaving little but darkness across the land. It was at this point that the people would begin to surface and embrace the nightshift, it was cooler under the depths of the blackish sky. The stars would flicker prominently in the distance a million miles away yet they looked to be only beyond the scope of touch. This was trickery of the highest order, but one could dream that they might fly between the flickering dots and dance amidst the sky.
NOSUCHKEY is set to release a prominent debut on Art Of Memory. The alias is a new lease of life for Nico Purman, the label boss and producer whom has moved from strength to strength channeling the breadth of electronic music. Listen here.

Late March saw the arrival of a very intriguing release on the below radar record label, Art Of Memory, founded by Nico Purman. Since 2013 the label has acted as a platform for the Argentinian born, Berlin based artist to capture ears with his experimental take on electronics and avant garde soundscapes. His latest release AOM002.2 is his third outing on his own imprint and the record sees him explore the spaces between techno, electro and ambient works. We caught up with Nico Purman to talk Argentinian roots and asked him to contribute to our Monday mix series. Listen and read the interview here.

This first release on Nico Purman's Art Of Memory finds the Berlin-based Argentinian delving deeper into territory he's explored on recent EPs for Crosstown Rebels and Vakant. As with those records, everything here is founded on generous lashings of Moroder-style synth bass, from which each track takes off in subtly different directions. "Logan's Dream" has a hazy electro quality, with spectral background atmospherics and waxing and waning drums lending it an epic, open-ended feel. "Labyrinth" has an exploratory tone, Purman's slow and low synth line unfolding in considered bursts.
"Arp" is spacier, with high, echoing synth flashes and a steady beat framing the bassline. Digital bonus track "Slow Burner" is well worth seeking out. Probably the most floor-ready thing here, it builds with layered synths and deep-in-the-mix vocal snippets to an early climax, before stretching out pleasingly onto an expansive, mesmeric plateau.
